The publication De Ommuurde Tuin (the garden within walls), compiled by Gladys Zeevaarders, consists of various assignments based on the garden of Marres. The garden of Marres has a rich history and offers space for large fig trees, flowering shrubs such as hawthorn, winter jasmine, and red-leaved elder, ferns and flowers such as tulips, dahlias, apple trees and a monumental ice house. The garden is populated by a large amount of birds, insects, butterflies, toads and frogs. The participating artists were asked to connect their own practice with the walled garden.
